Adult Programs Class Descriptions


Please note, that not all of the classes listed below will be offered. Programs offered by your Community Association are dependent on the availability of instructors to provide the programs and some programs are seasonal. Therefore, if we do not have an instructor available to teach one of the classes listed below, we will not be offering that program at this time. Check out the online registration for indoor programs being offered in the fall and winter.

Aerobics
Step to the beat of a fitter drummer. A one hour cardiovascular workout with your choice of high or low impact. One or two days/week. A great place to get together with friends and let off a little stress, get fit and have fun. This class is offered one or two days a week.

Bollywood Dance
Try a bit of Hollywood fun. Dance and step to an Indian beat. An innovative way to burn calories and learn some new moves! India bollywood dance is a fusion of Indian classical dance, folk dance and contemporary style. Student will be able to explore different hand gestures, foot style and expression which enhance beauty of dancer and dance.

Bootcamp
An intermediate level exercise class to improve endurance, speed, agility, strength and core. Uses bungees, pylons, and agility ladder and body weight to create a workout unlike anything you’ve tried before.

Co-ed Badminton
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of badminton.

Co-ed Basketball
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of basketball.

Co-ed Floor Hockey
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of floor hockey.

Co-ed Pickleball
Pickleball is a paddle sport for two to four players following the rules of pickleball. Played on a badminton sized court with a tennis sized net. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Beginner friendly sport, all levels welcome.
You must bring your own pickleball paddle.

Co-ed Volleyball
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of volleyball

Core Body
Offered to anyone interested in strengthening their midsection.  Can be modified to suit ability, strength and body type. Watch hands, wrists, arms and legs get stronger as we focus on stability, balance, twisting, side bending, abdominal work and back strengthening. Instructor will offer different levels of difficulty. Please bring you own yoga mat.

Couple Intro to Ballroom Dance
An introduction to a few popular ballroom dances (Foxtrot, Waltz, Jive, Rumba and Cha Cha).  Learn the basic steps in an informal environment so that you can enjoy dancing at your next social function. Street attire and comfortable nonscuffing shoes. Fee is per couple.

Full Body Circuit
Work your whole body using a variety of equipment and techniques, in this circuit format class for ages 15 and up. Participants will be guided through four or five circuits per class, each one alternating between cardio and resistance intervals. Equipment used will include dumbbells, medicine balls, tubing, skipping ropes, and body weight.

Hula Hooping | Beginner & Intermediate Levels
Hula-Hooping is not just for kids anymore. This new style called “hooping” is the latest fitness and dance craze, burning up to 600 calories per hour, toning core muscles, and improving posture, balance and stability. In this introductory class, students will be provided with handcrafted hoops from Solstice Hoop Play that are specifically designed for adult beginners.  Hoop Play begins with foundational core hooping exercises and progresses into impressive dance moves and tricks. Class content will be adapted to suit all fitness levels, including those who have never been able to keep the hoop up. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

Kettlebell
Improve your strength, power and conditioning with minimal equipment! A mixture of kettle bell skill-building and high intensity circuit training that will challenge all fitness levels. Participants will be required to purchase their own kettle bell (approx $40-$50, depending on size). Instructor will provide assistance with purchase.

Kickboxing
This is a fat burning, tension releasing, combination boxing and martial arts workout! Channel your energy and frustration and learn new valuable skills. A great way to burn 600 calories/class and have fun. Become a Lean Mean Fighting Machine!

Men’s Basketball
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of basketball.

Men’s Floor Hockey
A team sport, played indoors following the rules of floor hockey.

PiYo
PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. Piyo cranks up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined.

STOTT Pilates | Beginner & Intermediate Levels
Designed for participants familiar with Pilates and a routine. Stretching, basic floor exercises and more repetitions. Come and join us – it’s fun to be fit!

Tai Chi
Tai Chi has an almost magical effect in health improvement! Kids love to learn and they learn very quickly, especially when engaged in a fun activity. With safe and efficient stretching, this specially designed tai chi program emphasizes the fun element while developing their mind and body. Some of the styles of Tai Chi your child will learn in this course are Anapanasati Meditation, Meridian Yoga, and Woo Style Tai Chi. These will be combined to improve your child’s physical and mental health!

Yoga | Beginner
Are you new to Yoga and want to work at your own pace? This introduction to yoga will teach you to calm your mind as you increase your strength and flexibility. This class will focus on the basic poses, breathing, stretching, flexibility and relaxation in a nonjudgmental and safe environment. You will need to bring your own Yoga mat and any other props that you would like to use during the class. Intermediate and advanced levels are also available.

Yoga | Cardio
This is a flow-style yoga class, with a fitness-based approach. Using Vinyasa (the connection of breath and movement), this program increases heart rate while strengthening and stretching muscles. Options will be given for all levels of students – both beginners and experienced students are welcome. Participants need to provide their own yoga mat.

Yoga | Flow
Beginner friendly. Bring a yoga mat and a smile! No experience necessary. Poses will progress as the session does.

Yoga | MultiLevel
A multilevel yoga class that includes flow postures, including elements of Sun Salutations, in which you will synchronize breath with movement.  Attention will be paid to the details of alignment. All classes include a deep relaxation (savasana) at the end of class.  Please bring a yoga mat. All levels.

Yoga | Chair
Who would of thought! Yoga in a chair, wow, this means you don’t have to go to the floor! Maybe you have arthritis, osteoporosis or any type of body issue that affects your movement, balance and strength. This class is for you. Come try it out, you might get addicted.

Zumba
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — and resistance training. A fresh, fun workout that takes Latin dance rhythms and fuses them into the exercise routine to tone up your body and make you feel great! With this fun cardio workout you will tone your arms, stomach, thighs and more! Come Join the Party!

Zumba Step
An incredible workout that takes Latin and other popular dance rhythms and fuses them into a high energy step aerobic class designed to tone up your body and make you feel great! With this fun combo of cardio, dance and toning you won’t even realize you’re working. Ditch the workout. Join the Party! A step will NOT be provided, please remember to bring your own step for class.
